I left Baku when I was 24. I fell in love with Canadian man who I met in Baku and my life drastically changed after that. I’m quite an adventurous woman and always wanted to leave the country and see a different life from what I was used to.

When my husband got a work transfer from Baku back to Canada, I quit my job and flew to Canada within a month not knowing much about the country. My life has been quite a rollercoaster ever since. But I haven’t been so grateful for anything before in my life. Canada became my second home and split my heart in half. It’s a country where I had my first home, where I grew as a person, as a wife and a mother.

Canada is not the easiest place to live. I will tell you more there is no country in the world where you can immigrate and have an easy life. Nothing in life comes easy. As a person who lives in Europe now, I can confirm there are difficulties everywhere. Yes, there are countries with better work opportunities, better healthcare, or education system. But believe me, there always will be something else you would be dealing with. Whether it’s high taxes, high cost of living, prejudice towards your ethnicity or colder climate, challenge will always present itself.

A lot of immigrants who leave their countries and show you what a great life they have living abroad, don’t tell you about the hardships, depressions, mental health crisis they go through living abroad. You can meet people who live in Canada for 30 years and still talk about going back to their homes one day.

There are a lot of things that make Canada a unique country. And it breaks my heart, sometimes, to learn that some people even after living here for years don’t get to love it. And now while I’m away from my second home (I’m currently in Denmark) I thought it’s a great time to share my appreciation for this country and its people with others.

Purpose of this blog is not to show you how great is life abroad. And its not teach you how to live. My goal is to share you with all the good and bad I observed through years and keep observing. Together we can look for answers, philosophize about life, happiness and look for inspirations. Let’s bridge that culture gap together!
